La Favela

La Favela

La Favela at Seminyak, Bali is such a juxtaposition. Its name is obviously inspired by the famous slum neighbourhood in Rio De Janeiro, while one can’t help but feeling that La Favela is indeed a somewhat upscale establishment. It gives off the kind of vibe where Jack Sparrow would meet Davy Jones for a pint of beer and have a rowdy “conversation”, yet it is frequented by tourists who are unlikely to start a fight out of the blue.

Some people say that coming to La Favela is a must, even if you only wanted to look at the decor and simply enjoy a drink—we couldn’t agree more. With its intentional run-down ceiling look, red bricks, and faded street art paintings, the venue represents the dingy yet colourful look of its namesake. It is certainly a place not to be missed.

For a place like La Favela, it is only fitting that they are serving a number of quirky-named steaks and ribs, for example The Napoleon, Carnivorholic, Mary’s Lamb, and Chinatown. Before that, start your meal with something fresh: Beef or Tuna Carpaccio, or Tartare of Salmon—eat it raw like a pirate!
