Donburi Sensation: Gyutan Don at Negiya

Donburi Sensation: Gyutan Don at Negiya

Jakartans love Japanese food. This is evident by the ever-increasing number of Japanese restaurants that pop out all across the capital. It is interesting to note that those restaurants have become even more specialised; they no longer serve general Japanese food. Some specialise in sushi, some specialise in tempura, and some specialise in donburi—such as Negiya at Citywalk Sudirman.

For those of you unfamiliar with donburi, donburi is basically a rice bowl. Put some proteins on top of a bowl of hot rice, then you’ll get yourself a donburi. Negiya offers many types of it: Original Beef Bowl, Spicy Chicken Don, Chicken Teriyaki Don, Ebi Katsu don, and many more!

Negiya’s signature menu is the Menya Gyutan Don, serving generous slices of beef tongue—yes, beef tongue, you read that correctly—fluffy white rice and yummy omelettes. You won’t be disappointed with the amount of meat on your bowl! Having said that, we definitely think that Negiya could work on the flavours of their other menus, because everything else feels inferior compared to the Gyutan Don!
