Brunch and Lemons at Eric Kayser Artisan Boulanger

While this quote actually refers to lemons as obstacles in life and how people should be able to conquer them, I think of it in a literal sense—because I love lemon! And that is exactly what I do after I have a bite of Eric Kayser’s lemon tart. Devour. Them. All.

First and foremost, I should probably tell you that I adore everything about lemon tart: its citrusy aroma, tangy flavour, the burst of zing that refreshes the entire palate, the crust—oh, the crust. Eric Kayser’s lemon tart is exactly that and so much more: beautifully plated, perfectly baked, and completed with a touch of meringue on top. So, so fine.

As much as love the lemon tart, it isn’t quite enough to satisfy my appetite around brunch time. Eric Kayser offers an array of breakfast classics to accompany your morning coffee: croissant, sausages, roasted tomatoes, salad, and omelettes. My favourite part is the roasted tomatoes; I’m not sure what they season the tomatoes with, but I need the recipe!

For my happy ending, I order a portion of chocolate éclair. Sleek, sexy, sophisticated éclair, with the right amount of bittersweet chocolate. And I might or might have not order another serving of lemon tart to take home. C’est si bon!
