The Playroom—Good Food and Fun Games

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “playroom”? If you had kids, you’d probably think of that specific room where your kids play every day. If you just read 50 Shades of Grey, then your mind probably flew to Christian Grey’s “Red Room of Pain”. But if you had been to Pantai Indah Kapuk Area recently, you might immediately think of The Playroom—the restaurant.

The Playroom, true to its name, is one playful restaurant. It offers not only good food and drink, but also an atmosphere that matches its name. Diners can enjoy a game of pool or dart while sipping on a glass of Margarita and catching up with friends. The whole space has a cosy yet industrial feel to it, with the use of cool and neutral colours, strong lines, bare concrete, and simple interior design.

It’s interesting to note that The Playroom changes its menu every month, tempting diners to come back and find out what’s new. This time, we are lucky to have tasted a lot of really good dishes. For example, the BBQ Pork Belly Skewers. The barbecued pork belly meat is unforgettably delicious in all its simplicity: juicy, easily eaten in one bite, sweet glaze, and a touch of bitterness from the char marks.

Another pork dish, the Pork Bacon Wrapped Green Apple, also leaves a lasting impression. It beautifully marries the saltiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the apple—complemented with a dash of acidity. The apples are still crunchy, giving the dish a nice texture. Round everything up with a nice glass I <3 Gin Fizz or the non-alcoholic funky-looking beverage The Crown. Let’s eat and play!
