Healthier and Cleaner Eating at Ubud Homemade Restaurant

It’s not very often that a restaurant’s name is self-explanatory. In fact, it can be very confusing sometimes. For example, why would you name a restaurant “Thai Tanic”? Surely they have no plans of drowning anytime soon, right? (By the way, yes, I read about this restaurant on Buzzfeed) But thankfully it’s not the case with Ubud Homemade Restaurant. The location is really in Ubud, everything is home-made, and they even have their own herb garden!

Ubud Homemade Restaurant is located within the gorgeous Kajane Mua, a luxurious private villa and mansion at the heart of Ubud. In line with Kajane Mua’s philosophy that everything is designed to provide guests with a sense of tranquility, the restaurant aims to infuse the spirit of Balinese Hindus into modern cooking with healthy food principals—everything is free of MSG, preservatives, and artificial food colouring.

So what should one eat at Ubud Homemade Restaurant? So many choices, so little tummy space! How about their “Grilled Tamarind Pork Ribs”? The tamarind-marinated pork ribs are nicely seared on both sides, served with potatoes, homegrown vegetables, and homemade sauce. And if potato chips are too mainstream for you, give the “Eggplant Chips” a shot; the chips have been dipped in beer batter before fried, giving it that extra oomph.

Amidst the rapidly growing culinary industry in Bali, Ubud Homemade Restaurant gives diners another option to eat cleaner and healthier. While some may consider that the portion is slightly too small, well, simply consider it as the reason to order another plate!
