The Secluded Life at The Menjangan Resort

The Secluded Life at The Menjangan Resort

Koh Phi Phi in Thailand has become a major holiday destination after being used as a filming location for Danny Boyle’s “The Beach”, back in 2000. It sells the idea of a perfect life on a beautiful remote island, and almost everyone dreams of experiencing that at some point in their life. Sadly Koh Phi Phi has become oversaturated with tourists and hotels without proper care of the environment, causing marine life to suffer. So now, meet The Menjangan Resort in Bali, home to the Pantai and Bali Tower Restaurant.

The Menjangan Resort is located amidst the lush green trees of the West Bali National Park, home to hundreds of flora and fauna —including deers, which become the namesake of this resort. The resort employs sustainable strategies to help to preserve the local wild life, such as using less plastic utensils and minimal grooming of the surrounding gardens.

Whereas in “The Beach”, Leonardo di Caprio’s character has to travel back to the city to gather food and supplies, The Menjangan Resort offers two restaurants to sate the hungry tummy. After all, no one surely wants to go out after spending at least five hours on the road from Denpasar to reach the resort. The first restaurant is the Bali Tower Restaurant, which serves Mediterranean and Indonesian delicacies. The best part? It towers over the trees of West Bali National Park, giving you a view like no other.

Approximately three kilometres from the lobby —yes, the resort is that big— is the Pantai Restaurant at the Sentigi Beach. Besides mouthwatering breakfast menu, like “Eggs Florentine”, the restaurant specialises in seafood and barbecue. Do we really need to convince you with more reasons to visit The Menjangan? Where else you could see deers and other exotic tropical creatures with just a short trail from your bungalow? It is truly a hidden paradise in the ever-busy Bali.
