3 ‘Vintage’ Chinese Restaurants in Jakarta

3 ‘Vintage’ Chinese Restaurants in Jakarta

It seems that new restaurants are coming out every weekend at different locations all across Jakarta. Most of the times, people line up to be among the first group of people who give the new kid on the block a shot. Sometimes though, sometimes, people simply want to eat something familiar that is close to their heart. Something they have eaten for years and never get bored of. Here are three Chinese Restaurants that have lasted for more than 50 years!

1. Depot 3.6.9 Shanghai Dumpling & Noodle Depot

Depot 3.6.9 was established in 1957 in Surabaya and has opened several outlets in Jakarta’s honorary ‘China Town’ districts - Mangga Besar, Kebun Jeruk, Kelapa Gading, Pluit. With delicious noodle and other yummy menus such as ‘Xiao Lung Bao’ and ‘Nasi Goreng 369’, it’s no wonder Depot 3.6.9 keeps on expanding as time goes on!

2. Chuan Tin

For those of you looking for another variation of noodle dishes, head to Chuan Tin at Supermal Karawaci or Pesanggrahan. Since its inception in 1950, Chuan Tin slowly becomes known for its hot, oh-so-delicious Hokkien Lomie. Spice it up with some garlic, chilli, vinegar, and soy sauce to create your own perfect plate!

3. Eka Ria

Do you believe that one restaurant can survive for more than 80 years? ‘No’ is definitely the wrong answer! Eka Ria, born in 1925, has managed to continuously serve great Chinese food for more than 80 years. It is a great venue for Sunday family brunch, wedding, and… loyal fans of ‘Burung Dara Goreng’.
