5 Places to Stave Off Hunger at Grand Indonesia

Among the invasion of uncountable new malls that keep proliferating in Jakarta, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town remains the top pick for shopping and dining. The huge mall extends over two buildings -the West and East Mall- interconnected by the Skybridge. After spending hours on a shopping spree and walking through the mall, stop by one of Grand Indonesia’s 111 F&B tenants to relieve your hunger! The following list is some of our favourite places to eat at Grand Indonesia.

1. Paulaner Bräuhaus
For original Bavarian cuisine, head to Paulaner Bräuhaus on the second floor of the East Mall. With 100% freshly brewed beer and sausages to-die-for, Paulaner Bräuhaus is the perfect place to catch up with friends and eat good, hearty food. Tune in to their social media accounts for schedules of live music or sporting events. Prost!

2. Jun Njan
Jun Njan has more than 50 years of experience in serving Chinese food to the good citizens of Jakarta. Sticking to the meaning of the name ‘Jun Njan’ -to always remember your roots- it serves classic and family-style cuisines. Don’t forget to try some of their seafood favourites: ‘Crab Jun Njan Style’, ‘Steamed Live Prawns’, and the crispy ‘Sweet and Sour Fish’.

3. SKYE
Located on the 56th floor rooftop of BCA Tower, Grand Indonesia, SKYE is a venue with a ‘bistro by day, lounge by night’ concept. It offers unique dishes with international, Middle-Eastern, and Asian flavours; a selection of signature cocktails and mocktails; and a spectacular view of Jakarta’s skyline. What more could you ask for?

4. Jittlada
Thai food restaurants are few and far between in Jakarta, especially compared to other cuisines. Some pop out every now and then, but only a few manage to stay and expand. One of them is Jittlada, established in 1998. Jittlada serves delicious authentic Thai cuisine, among them are ‘Papaya Salad’, ‘Green Curry’, and ‘Mango Sticky Rice’.

5. Benihana
Benihana is an acclaimed chain-restaurant from America serving Japanese cuisine, mainly teppanyaki. The restaurant takes the open kitchen concept to the next level: not only the chefs prepare and cook the food skilfully right in front of the diners, they also make conversations, joke, and even sing! Having said that, the best part is still the fact that the food tastes as good as it looks… Yum!
