Six Ounces Coffee
Any coffee aficionados around Kelapa Gading would tell you that despite the growing number of coffee shops in the area, Six Ounces Coffee remains jam-packed with customers, especially at certain hours of the day. Some friends even describe it as “borderline introvert’s nightmare”. So there I was, trying to confirm the statement and to understand why.
As I pulled open the sliding door, I was greeted with a smile and a loud “Good Morning!” from the barista, which elicited a smile back from me. Aha. There it was. Point number one: warm welcome.
How about the coffee? All of Six Ounces’ coffee comes with double ristretto, a real life saver for the sleepy morning. While I’m no expert in coffee, the creamy, perfectly bitter, not-too-acidic hot cappuccino gave me enough kick for the next three hours. I chatted with my friend like the Energizer Bunny. Point number two: great coffee.
Only after realising that I got too excited and my pitch got higher and higher by the minute, I started to pay attention to my surroundings. Well, apparently other patrons were like me too: talking and spilling all of their secrets in a volume that definitely couldn’t be classified as weak. Point number three: a cosy place to chat. Too cosy.
Point number one plus two plus three are recipes for success and it’s no wonder that Six Ounces Coffee has a mass of loyal following. While it was thankfully quite a slow morning for the coffee shop, I could totally imagine it being very hectic at times.
