Midori Japanese Restaurant

Midori Japanese Restaurant

Japanese food enthusiasts, let’s take a break from all the new restaurants and discover some hidden gems. Midori, which opened its door in 1994, is one of the most beloved Japanese restaurants in Jakarta. It now has eight outlets in Jakarta, Bandung, and Bogor. There’s something unique about the location of Midori. Every Midori outlet is almost always located next to or near Bersih Sehat Massage, a respectable massage parlour.

Midori has an array of Japanese food variety: sushi and sashimi, yakimono (barbecue and grill), men rui (noodles), bento, nabemono, curry rice, desserts, and many more. The price is relatively pocket-friendly, and their bento is such a steal. One dish that lingers on our palate is Gyu Enoki Maki, which is beef & enoki mushroom roll—sweet and juicy! The hotplate dishes are also interesting, such as Tofu Steak, served with mixed veggies and sweet sauce. Midori also offers numerous drinks from juices, beer, sake, coffee, and of course, ocha.

Midori’s outlet in Jalan Wahid Hasyim is particularly gorgeous. Not only the whole space feels calming and comfortable, the whole front window is covered in vine greens. It is certainly a nice change from Jakarta’s traffic jam and congested traffic. Another peculiar thing is the way customers call the waiter, with a bell. Since the restaurant is quite large and sometimes the sunshine makes it hard for waiters to see accurately, bell is the logical solution.

Another point goes to Midori for live music. At certain days, there is a live band that will accompany your dining time. Make sure to call Midori and check beforehand about the schedule. With so many good things to offer, Midori remains one of our go-to Japanese restaurants in Jakarta. It is also great place for meetings and small gatherings. What are you waiting for? Let’s go to Midori right now!
