Sop Buntut Bogor Cafe: Five-Star Oxtail Soup

There are countless restaurants in Jakarta selling Sop Buntut (Oxtail Soup). Ask any of them, and most will say that they are trying to reach what Sop Buntut Hotel Borobudur has managed to achieve. In terms of popularity and taste, Sop Buntut Hotel Borobudur is the legend. 

Originally, this Sop Buntut could only be found at Bogor Cafe, which is located inside Hotel Borobudur. A couple of years ago, the management decided to spread the oxtail soup love to one additional outlet at Pacific Place, 5th Floor. The diversity of menu is limited, because they want to focus on different variety of oxtails.

There are three different ways to have your Sop Buntut at Bogor Cafe: regular (braised), grilled, and fried. Meanwhile, there are three sizes: legendary (4 oxtails), medium (3 oxtails), and small (2 oxtails). Whichever your preference is, the dish is served with white rice and emping. The oxtail is tender and falls off the bone easily. You can taste the spices all the way to the innermost part of it. The broth? Fragrant and rich that you would want to finish every single drop.

Besides Sop Buntut, you can also find Buntut Penyet, Buntut Black pepper, and Nasi Goreng Buntut. A few non-oxtail dishes are also available, such as Sate Kambing. But first timers, just go straight to Sop Buntut before you try anything else. The small portion will cost you Rp 58.000, while the large portion will set you back Rp 98.000.
